Introducing Jackson Technology Park North: A $10M Project to Boost Business and Jobs in Jackson County
Jackson Technology Park North, a $10 million project aimed at attracting businesses and jobs to Jackson County, is finally coming to fruition. The first tenant, Midbrook Manufacturing & Fabrication, has broken ground at this new “shovel-ready” business park in Blackman Township, with a second tenant already in the pipeline, according to the County’s development agency, Accelerate Jackson County.
The project, spearheaded by Accelerate Jackson County, is a public-private partnership designed to provide everything a company needs to start building in the area. This includes essential utilities like water, sewer, gas, and electric hookups, making it an attractive option for businesses looking to establish a presence in the region.
Midbrook Manufacturing & Fabrication, a Jackson-based company specializing in metal fabrication, is the first to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Jackson Technology Park North. Their new building is already under construction, with Chief Operating Officer Jamie Willis citing the need for room to grow and the favorable pricing and tax incentives as key factors in their decision to move to the business park.
Accelerate Jackson County President and CEO Keith Gillenwater emphasized the importance of having shovel-ready sites available to attract businesses and create jobs in the area. With a second tenant expected to join Midbrook, a total of 55 new jobs are projected to be created as a result of the project.
The upfront expense of the project, funded by a combination of federal, county, and township resources, is seen as a necessary investment to stay competitive and attract businesses to the region. Gillenwater stressed the importance of having shovel-ready sites available, as businesses are more likely to choose locations that are ready for development over those that require additional assessments and approvals.
