India Lok Sabha Election 2024: Phase 5 – Who Votes and What’s at Stake

The fifth phase of India’s national election is set to take place on May 20, with voters in 49 constituencies across six states and two union territories heading to the polls. This phase marks the final stretch of the massive electoral exercise, with at least 969 million people registered to vote.

Key constituencies to watch include Rae Bareli and Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is contesting, and Ladakh, where local grievances and the India-China border standoff are key issues. The BJP and Congress are the main contenders in this phase, with both parties vying for crucial seats.

Voting will begin at 7am local time and end at 6pm, with results set to be announced on June 4. So far, the BJP and its allies have dominated the elections, winning 39 of the 49 seats up for grabs in the last election. The remaining seats were won by Congress and its allies.

As the election enters its final stages, the political landscape in India is set to shift once again, with the outcome of the fifth phase likely to have a significant impact on the overall results. Stay tuned for more updates as the election unfolds.
