US News: Donald Trump woos thousands of rebellious gun rights advocates at NRA convention

Donald Trump rallied “rebellious” gun-rights advocates at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in Dallas, urging them to vote in the upcoming presidential election. Speaking to a crowd of 8,000 NRA members, Trump emphasized the importance of their support and called on them to be “rebellious” at the polls.

During his 100-minute keynote address, Trump accepted the NRA’s endorsement and highlighted his commitment to defending gun rights. He launched the “Gun Owners for Trump” coalition to boost voter registration among gun owners and promote his pro-Second Amendment stance.

Trump took aim at his political opponents, criticizing independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and slamming President Biden as a “Manchurian candidate” who poses a threat to democracy. He vowed to protect gun rights and promised to overturn Biden’s regulations restricting gun ownership if re-elected.

The Biden campaign responded by highlighting Trump’s past statements on gun violence and accusing him of prioritizing the interests of the gun lobby over the safety of communities. Texas Governor Greg Abbott praised Trump as the antidote to Biden’s policies and emphasized the former president’s support for gun rights.

Overall, Trump’s appearance at the NRA convention underscored his commitment to defending the Second Amendment and rallying support from gun-rights advocates ahead of the presidential election.
