Comprehensive Two-Day Capacity Building Training on CSR Compliances & Project Management Held in Kohima

The Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) recently organized a two-day capacity building training on ‘CSR Compliances & Project Management’ in collaboration with HCL Foundation through their HCL Academy. The event, held on May 20 and 21, saw the participation of 35 NGOs from across Nagaland.

The inaugural session was graced by R Ramakrishnan, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister & Development Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, who emphasized the crucial role of NGOs in empowering Naga society. He expressed gratitude to HCL Foundation for partnering with IDAN in spearheading initiatives for the betterment of Nagaland.

Reny Wilfred, IAS, Joint Secretary, IDAN, welcomed the attendees, while Dr Nidhi Pundhir, Vice President, Global CSR HCL Tech & Director HCL Foundation, reiterated the foundation’s commitment to supporting NGOs through collaborative efforts and capacity-building initiatives. Shri I Changsang, NCS, Under Secretary, IDAN, delivered the closing remarks, highlighting the importance of implementing the knowledge gained during the training.

The workshop featured resource faculties from HCL Foundation who delivered presentations on various topics, including an overview of CSR, compliance with Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013, and CSR activities outlined in Project Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013. Participants also gained insights into project management processes, project planning, development, and implementation of change.

On the second day, participants delved into fundamental aspects of CSR policy, learning how to prepare effective CSR policies and strategies for development communication and resource mobilization. The interactive sessions saw active engagement from NGOs seeking clarification on CSR policies and laws.

The training concluded with a virtual presentation covering topics such as accounting, taxation, latest amendments, and notifications relevant to CSR initiatives. Discussions on assessment and certification provided participants with the opportunity to share their key learnings and action points. Overall, the training was a valuable opportunity for NGOs in Nagaland to enhance their capacity in CSR compliances and project management.
