Salem Hospital Ranked Among Best In Region: U.S. News & World Report
Salem Hospital in Massachusetts has once again proven its excellence in healthcare by being ranked among the top 10 hospitals in the Metro Boston area and named “High Performing” in seven specialties. The prestigious recognition comes from the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings released on Tuesday.
The seven specialties in which Salem Hospital excelled include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, lung cancer surgery, and pneumonia. This achievement highlights the dedication and skill of the hospital’s exceptional team, as stated by Roxanne Ruppel, the president and chief operating officer.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions to determine the rankings. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled in factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care, and patient experience. The “High Performing” designation acknowledges hospitals that consistently deliver high-quality care for specific medical procedures and conditions.
Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, emphasized the importance of the recognition, stating that it highlights the expertise and commitment of hospitals like Salem Hospital to patient well-being. The rankings are based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and level of nursing care.
