ROHM Semiconductor and Nanjing SemiDrive Technology Ltd. Collaborate on Smart Cockpit Reference Design

In a groundbreaking partnership, ROHM Semiconductor and Nanjing SemiDrive Technology Ltd. have jointly developed a smart cockpit reference design that is set to revolutionize the automotive industry. The design, based on SemiDrive’s X9M and X9E automotive SoCs, incorporates components such as PMICs, SerDes ICs, LED driver IC, and more from ROHM.

The demand for automotive electronics and components has been on the rise with the increasing adoption of smart cockpits and ADAS in vehicles. The performance of PMICs and SerDes ICs is crucial for the stability and efficiency of electronic systems in vehicles. ROHM’s PMICs and SerDes ICs offer high integration in power supply blocks and support stability during high-speed data transmission.

ROHM and SemiDrive have a history of collaboration dating back to 2019, with a strategic partnership established in 2022 for the development of advanced automotive technologies. The integration of ROHM components into SemiDrive’s X9H In-Vehicle SoC reference board has been well-received by automakers, leading to the adoption of advanced functionality in vehicle cockpits and other applications.

The latest collaboration between ROHM and SemiDrive has resulted in the development of the REF66004 reference design featuring the X9M and X9E SoCs. This design is expected to expand the application line-up, including in popular mass-market models. The reference board incorporates ROHM’s PMICs and SerDes ICs, enabling the operation of multiple display projections and ADAS cameras.

Zhang Qiang, Chairman of Nanjing SemiDrive Technology Ltd., expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the importance of innovative solutions in the automotive sector. Tetsuo Tateishi, Member of the Board at ROHM Co., Ltd., emphasized the significance of automotive analog semiconductors in the evolving landscape of ADAS and smart cockpits.

The REF66004 reference design, available on ROHM’s website, offers a comprehensive solution for smart cockpits, capable of driving multiple screen projections and cameras. The design incorporates ROHM’s new PMICs for SoCs, enabling flexible power supplies tailored to specific circuit requirements.

SemiDrive’s X9 series of automotive SoCs, ranging from entry-level to flagship models, has already seen significant success in the market. With a focus on next-generation E/E architectures, SemiDrive’s products are designed to meet the evolving needs of smart mobility.

ROHM’s expertise in semiconductor and electronic components, combined with SemiDrive’s innovative automotive SoCs, is set to drive further advancements in the automotive industry. The collaboration between these two industry leaders promises to deliver cutting-edge solutions for next-generation vehicles.
