Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business Earns IMA Endorsement for M.S. in Accounting Program
Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business Receives Endorsement from IMA for M.S. in Accounting Program
Seton Hall University is excited to announce that the Stillman School of Business’ M.S. in accounting program has been endorsed by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), a prestigious association dedicated to advancing the management accounting profession.
The IMA’s Endorsement of Higher Education initiative recognizes programs that meet rigorous educational standards, allowing students to pursue and obtain the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential. This endorsement highlights the program’s commitment to excellence and prepares students for successful careers in management accounting.
Dean of the Stillman School of Business, Joyce Strawser, Ph.D., expressed her pride in this achievement, stating, “Being endorsed by IMA is a significant achievement that will better equip our students for successful careers in management accounting. This recognition speaks to the strength of our curriculum and the value it brings to our students’ future careers and the organizations they will serve.”
The 30-credit M.S. in accounting program is designed for graduates without a bachelor’s degree in accounting who are interested in financial analysis and detail-oriented work. The curriculum covers financial systems, auditing, and tax regulations, while developing essential analytical and numerical skills for accounting or finance careers. Graduates of the program are prepared to sit for the CPA exam in multiple states, including New Jersey and New York.
With flexible enrollment options, including full- and part-time study, students can attend classes on Seton Hall’s South Orange campus or online. Full-time students can complete the program in as little as 12 months, while part-time students typically finish within two years.
Danielle DiMeglio, M.B.A., instructor of accounting and taxation, and director of graduate accounting programs, highlighted the significance of the IMA endorsement, stating, “The IMA endorsement brings a new dimension to Seton Hall’s accounting program, expanding opportunities for students, especially those in our M.S.A.C. program. This partnership opens doors to careers in financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making, providing students with the skills and certifications needed to excel in the field.”
The Stillman School of Business is the only school in northern New Jersey with dual accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), a prestigious recognition held by only five percent of business schools worldwide. Additionally, the school maintains supplemental accreditation in accounting, further demonstrating its commitment to excellence.
To qualify for endorsement by IMA, schools must meet specific criteria, including covering the CMA exam content, having adequate faculty resources, and being accredited by a recognized organization. The IMA’s CMA program assesses advanced accounting and financial management knowledge, essential for students pursuing careers in accounting and finance.
Mark P. Holtzman, Ph.D., CPA, chair of Seton Hall’s Department of Accounting and Taxation, emphasized the program’s versatility, stating, “With this new IMA endorsement, our M.S.A.C. program offers even more options for graduate students to pursue various accounting careers. Graduates now have the opportunity to pursue CMA certification and careers in management accounting and corporate finance.”
The IMA endorsement solidifies Seton Hall University’s commitment to providing high-quality education in accounting and preparing students for successful careers in the field.
