Business Headlines for Friday: Cummins to raise long-term financial targets, Apple to add more accessibility features, Ticket Act to require sellers to list total cost, Cracker Barrel projects lower profits, McDonald’s introduces ‘Grandma McFlurry’

Cummins, the Columbus-based engine maker, is set to raise its long-term financial targets as it continues its journey towards zero emissions. The company’s executives are confident in their ability to meet customer needs, drive greenhouse gas reductions, and generate growth despite the challenges of transitioning to zero emissions. Two years ago, Cummins introduced “Destination Zero” with the goal of achieving zero emissions in the future.

In other news, Apple is adding more accessibility features to its software, including a feature that uses the front-facing camera and AI to help people with physical disabilities navigate through iOS and iPad-OS with eye tracking. Another feature called Music Haptics will allow those who are deaf or hard of hearing to experience music on their iPhone through a range of vibrations when using Apple Music.

The House has passed the Transparency in Charges for Key Events Ticketing Act, also known as the “Ticket Act,” which will require sellers to list the total cost of a ticket to buyers, including fees. This measure aims to increase price transparency for consumers in the ticketing industry and will now go to the Senate for consideration.

On the business front, Cracker Barrel is projecting lower profits due to high inflation impacting the number of diners visiting its restaurants. Despite this, the down-home restaurant chain remains confident in its strong brand and will focus on marketing efforts and its popular rewards program to attract guests.

Lastly, McDonald’s is introducing a new McFlurry called the “Grandma McFlurry,” which features a delicious syrup and crunchy candy pieces blended in vanilla soft serve. The limited-time offering is meant to bring back sweet memories of treats that grandmas used to hide in their purses.
