Fox News Polling Shows Trump Struggling in Key States Against Harris
Donald Trump Faces Tough Polling Numbers in Key States, Fox News Reports
Former President Donald Trump received a rude awakening on Friday night when Fox News reported fresh polling in four key states – Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin – showing three of them too close to call and the other slipping away.
The polls indicate that Trump’s case against President Biden doesn’t translate as easily to one against Vice President Kamala Harris, with battleground voters showing a preference for Harris over Trump.
In Michigan, a state Biden won by fewer than 3 points in 2020, the Harris-Trump race is tied at 49% in a head-to-head matchup. However, Trump is up 45% to 43% against Harris in a race including other candidates like Robert Kennedy Jr. and Jill Stein.
In Wisconsin, where elections have been decided by less than a percentage point in recent years, Trump holds a 1-point lead in a binary battle and a tied race in an expanded field. Harris has strong support from Democrats and women in the state.
Pennsylvania, another key battleground state, shows a dead heat between Trump and Harris in a two-way matchup. Trump’s support among Republicans is lower in the expanded field, raising concerns for his campaign.
Minnesota sees a 6-point lead for Harris in a binary battle and a 7-point lead in an expanded field. Trump’s support among Republicans is also lower in this state.
The polls highlight a concerning trend for the Trump campaign, with Harris consistently outperforming Trump in terms of favorability ratings and key metrics.
While Republicans have blamed the media and Democrats for changing presidential candidates before the convention, strategists acknowledge the need for a winning strategy to address the challenges posed by Harris’ popularity.
Trump consultant Chris LaCivita expressed confidence in the campaign’s ability to shift the narrative and set the agenda against Harris, but the polls suggest a more challenging road ahead for the former president.
With the election just 100 days away, the Trump campaign faces the task of course-correcting and regaining momentum in key battleground states where Harris currently holds an advantage.
