Colorado Springs Soars to No. 3 in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Live Rankings

In a recent announcement by U.S. News & World Report, Colorado Springs has been named the third-best place to live in the United States for the 2024-25 year. This significant jump from its previous ranking at No. 9 showcases the city’s growing desirability and appeal to residents.

Mayor Yemi Mobolade expressed pride in the city’s achievement, stating, “Our secret is out – Colorado Springs is indisputably one of the best places to live in our great country.” The annual Best Places to Live rankings aim to assist individuals in making informed decisions when choosing a place to call home.

The methodology behind the rankings includes data from various sources such as the Census Bureau, FBI, and the Department of Labor, as well as surveys conducted with thousands of people to determine key factors in selecting a city to live in. Categories such as quality of life, value, job market, and desirability are taken into account to calculate a city’s overall ranking.

Colorado Springs excelled in the desirability index, with factors such as net migration patterns, climate appeal, and the number of restaurants and bars per capita contributing to its high score. In a survey of 3,500 individuals, Colorado Springs was rated as the top choice for living, further solidifying its position in the rankings.

Erika Giovanetti, a U.S. News reporter, highlighted the city’s balance of desirability, quality of life, job market, and value as key factors in its success. Despite being ranked 35th in housing affordability, Colorado Springs manages to strike a balance between desirability and value, making it an attractive option for residents.

Johnna Reeder Kleymeyer, president and CEO of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce & EDC, attributed the city’s appeal to economic factors such as rising median wages and job growth. Quality of life enhancements, including new entertainment options, also contribute to making Colorado Springs a desirable location for young adults.

Overall, Colorado Springs’ rise to the top three in the Best Places to Live rankings reflects its growing reputation as a vibrant and livable city. With other Colorado cities also making the list, the state continues to be a popular choice for individuals seeking a high quality of life.
