CANAAN — Canaan Schools is celebrating a major win after being awarded a $5,000 grant from Consolidated Communications’ Consolidated Connects Educational Grant Program. The grant, which was presented during a school assembly on May 10, will support classroom technology upgrades aimed at enhancing student engagement.

The funding will allow for the implementation of interactive programs and lesson materials that focus on exercise, movement, and balancing skills. This initiative is expected to provide students with a more dynamic and immersive learning experience.

“We are tremendously grateful to Consolidated Communications for their generous grant supporting our youngest learners,” said Jennifer Lawcewicz, superintendent at Essex North Supervisory Union. “We are excited to expand our use of technology to support learning in our preschool classroom.”

Scott Brooks, director of government affairs for Consolidated, highlighted the importance of investing in education initiatives like this. He emphasized that supporting programs that enhance student learning ultimately strengthens communities.

The Consolidated Connects Educational Grant Program specifically targets K-12 schools within the company’s service area that offer innovative, technology-focused learning programs. Since its inception in 2021, the program has awarded over $160,000 to 52 schools, benefiting more than 14,500 students.
