SOAR Program Takes Flight at Detroit Metropolitan Airport with Rebel Nell and Quix Chocolate

The ‘SOAR’ program has officially taken flight at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, with two businesses set to participate in the Small Business Operators Arriving Ready pilot program in August. Rebel Nell and Quix Chocolate have been selected as the first participants in this innovative program, which aims to provide small business owners the opportunity to operate their specialty retail concepts in the Warren Cleage Evans Terminal.

Rebel Nell, a Detroit-based jewelry company, offers employment and support for women facing various challenges, while Quix Chocolate, originally founded in Belgium in 1947 and now based in Ferndale, produces traditional Belgian chocolates using original recipes. Both businesses will showcase their products to thousands of travelers daily, adding unique options to the airport’s concessions program.

Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton expressed excitement about welcoming Rebel Nell and Quix Chocolate to the airport, highlighting the expansion of the concessions program and the opportunity for customers to experience these unique offerings. The businesses will operate out of newly constructed spaces near gate D12, providing travelers with the chance to purchase gifts or treats during their journeys.

The SOAR program, spearheaded by Renata C. Evans, aims to empower entrepreneurs and help them thrive in an airport environment.
