Businesses Prepare for Busy Memorial Day Weekend on the Water

As the warm and sunny weather settles in, business owners along the Farmington River are gearing up for a busy Memorial Day weekend on the water.

At Farmington River Tubing in New Hartford, owner Jeremy Harraden is optimistic about the upcoming season. With water temperatures already reaching 60 degrees and great water flows, he is hopeful for a successful opening weekend.

Last summer’s rainy weather posed challenges for the business, leading to many closed days and unhappy staff. However, Harraden is looking forward to making up for it this year and is excited about the potential for a busy weekend ahead.

Further down the river, Collinsville Canoe and Kayak is also expecting a stellar season. With consistent water levels and a variety of gear available for rent, they are ready to accommodate happy customers looking to enjoy the outdoors.

Employee Ben Warner expressed his excitement for the great weather and the opportunity to put people out on the water. Despite the quieter weekdays, the business remains busy with people renting gear to explore the river.

With the promise of warm weather and clear skies, both businesses are looking forward to a successful and enjoyable summer season ahead.
