Inside Look at Palmer Luckey’s Military Collection and Futuristic Weapons Startup

The founder of Oculus and Anduril Industries, Palmer Luckey, is not just focused on creating futuristic weapons of war through his startup. In a recent interview with Bloomberg’s “The Circuit,” Luckey revealed his personal collection of military vehicles and “boys toys” that would make James Bond jealous.

Luckey’s collection includes a boat purchased from the US Navy, six helicopters, and a 1985 ex-Marine Corps Humvee fighter. His Mark V special operations craft, acquired from the Navy, is the fastest boat ever built by the force with over 5,000 horsepower. Luckey even keeps a real M2 heavy-barreled 50 BMG machine gun on the boat, although he usually has fake ones fitted.

The billionaire’s passion for the military started at a young age, watching Marine Corps and Navy exercises offshore. Luckey, who founded Oculus in 2012 and later sold it to Facebook for $2 billion, founded Anduril in 2017. Despite his success in the tech industry, Luckey’s love for military vehicles and toys remains strong.

In addition to his military-grade vehicles, Luckey owns a 1967 Disneyland Autopia, a toy car designed by Walt Disney himself. His 1980s-designed home in LA features a two-inch thick teal shag carpet, a 6,500-gallon aquarium, and a coffee table with a map of his Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

As Luckey admits, he is a bit of a caricature with his collection of video games stored in one of his missile bases 200 feet underground. With his unique mix of cutting-edge technology and vintage military vehicles, Luckey’s collection is truly one-of-a-kind.
