Portland’s The Wine Spa Named One of Time Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places of 2025
Portland’s The Wine Spa has been named one of Time Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places of 2025, solidifying its status as a must-visit destination in the city. The spa, located on northeast Broadway, was opened just a few months ago by owner Kelly Lewis.
“We are the first dedicated wine spa in the United States and the first in Portland,” Lewis proudly stated. The inspiration for the spa came from Lewis’s travels to wine spas in Armenia and the Republic of Georgia. After experiencing a vinotherapy spa in Georgia, she knew she had to bring the concept back home to Portland.
The Wine Spa focuses on vinotherapy, using wine or wine grapes in skincare treatments. They exclusively use products from Caudalie, a French beauty brand known for its wine grape-derived products. Lewis emphasized, “Everything that we do here involves some element of grape or vine or wine itself in our different treatments.”
One of the signature experiences at The Wine Spa is the wine bath, where spa-goers soak in a jetted tub filled with warm water, Epsom salts, and a full bottle of red wine. But don’t worry about waste – the spa uses upcycled wine, which are wines produced by Oregon winemakers that can’t be sold due to quality issues. This gives the wine a “second life” and helps reduce waste.
In addition to the wine bath, the spa offers a signature facial using whole grapes for exfoliation. And to top it off, guests can enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with every wine bath, served in a compostable cup. Non-alcoholic wines are also available for both drinking and bathing.
