The Greek Tax System to Implement New Integrated Tax Information System

In a bid to revolutionize and modernize tax collection procedures, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) in Greece is set to introduce a new integrated tax information system known as TAXIS – TAXISNET – ELENXIS.

With a budget of €86,181,528.66 funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the project aims to lay the groundwork for “Tax Administration 3.0” over the course of five years, with an additional four-year maintenance plan costing €33,460,160.00.

The new system will unify and modernize existing tax systems, create comprehensive taxpayer profiles, enhance audit controls, eliminate geographic jurisdiction limitations, simplify operations, improve data management, integrate accounting systems, and enhance interoperability with other public sector entities.

IAPR is targeting the swift implementation of specific functions, with the first subsystems expected to go live by the end of 2026. The ultimate goal is to provide a modern, efficient, and user-friendly tax environment for both citizens and businesses in Greece.

This ambitious project signifies a significant step towards leveraging technological innovations to streamline tax processes, promote transparency, and enhance efficiency in tax collection in Greece.
