Michael Kratsios Appointed Director of White House Office of Science and Technology Policy

Michael Kratsios, a prominent technologist and proud Greek American, has been appointed as the Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, marking his return to public service under President Donald Trump.

The announcement was made on social media by Trump, who praised Kratsios’ previous achievements in his administration. Kratsios had previously served as the Chief Technology Officer of the United States at the White House and as the Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering at the Pentagon. He was also awarded the Department of Defense’s Distinguished Public Service Medal for his contributions.

Kratsios, a graduate of Princeton and a Distinguished Fellow at Stanford, responded with enthusiasm to his reappointment, emphasizing the importance of scientific and technological advancement for national prosperity and security. He expressed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve in the White House again and highlighted the potential for a “Golden Age of American Innovation” under Trump’s leadership.

With his family roots tracing back to Greece and his father being a Greek Orthodox priest, Kratsios is widely recognized for his transformative work in technology policy. As the youngest U.S. Chief Technology Officer, he spearheaded initiatives in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and 5G development, while also strengthening the country’s defense technology infrastructure.

His reappointment signals a renewed focus on leveraging cutting-edge science and technology to enhance America’s global competitiveness. Trump’s decision to reinstate Kratsios underscores his administration’s commitment to prioritizing innovation as a key component of economic and national security strategy.
