San Francisco Crime Rates Drop Thanks to Technology and Data Analysis

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott and city leaders announced on Tuesday that crime rates in the city are dropping in several key categories, thanks to the use of technology.

Chief Scott highlighted the department’s use of drones, which helped catch thieves breaking into cars along the Embarcadero. Additionally, new license plate readers have been instrumental in identifying and apprehending thieves. Surveillance cameras and drones have also been effective in cracking down on sideshows and shootings.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins emphasized that suspects are being held accountable when caught, and outgoing Mayor London Breed commended the progress being made.

“This is why I got into public service, to make a difference,” Breed said.

Chief Scott stated that the city will continue to implement programs and technologies to enhance public safety.

The use of technology in law enforcement has proven to be successful in reducing crime rates in San Francisco, and city officials are committed to further protecting the community.
