Indian Billionaire Joy Alukkas Insulted by Rolls Royce Dubai Showroom, Now Owns a Fleet of Luxury Cars

Indian billionaire Joy Alukkas, the chairman of the renowned jewellery group Joyalukkas, recently shared a fascinating story about his experience at a Rolls Royce showroom in Dubai that led him to acquire a fleet of luxury cars. Alukkas, who is the 50th richest person in India with a net worth of $4.4 billion, recalled the incident that sparked his decision to purchase his first Rolls Royce.

In the year 2000, Alukkas visited a Rolls Royce showroom in Dubai, UAE, with the intention of buying the luxury car. However, he was met with unexpected disrespect from a staff member who directed him to a Mitsubishi showroom instead. Shocked and embarrassed by the treatment he received, Alukkas decided to prove his worth by purchasing the Rolls Royce that he initially wanted.

After acquiring the Rolls Royce, Alukkas felt that he did not need such an ultra-luxury car and decided to gift it to the winner of an annual raffle draw held by his jewellery chain in the UAE. In March of this year, he added another luxury car to his collection by purchasing a Rolls-Royce Cullinan worth ₹6 crore.

Joy Alukkas, a school dropout, ventured into the Middle East in 1987 to establish his family’s first overseas store in Abu Dhabi. He later branched out to create his own successful brand, Joyalukkas, which now boasts 100 outlets in India and 60 overseas locations with over 9000 employees. Alukkas’ wealth has steadily increased over the years, earning him a spot on Forbes Billionaires List 2024 at 712th place.

This inspiring tale of resilience and success showcases Joy Alukkas’ journey from humble beginnings to becoming a prominent figure in the business world, with a fleet of luxury cars to match his success.
