F&M Bank finances Montague Plaza development, supports Black-owned businesses

F&M Bank, a local financial institution, is making a significant impact in the community by financing the development of Montague Plaza, a project that supports Black-owned businesses. With a $4 million investment, F&M Bank is helping to bring this vision to life in southeast Raleigh.

Scheduled to open in 2024, Montague Plaza will be a 16,000-square-foot space that will house 14 Black-owned businesses offering a variety of services, from retail to professional services to educational programs. The development will also include programs focused on math, science, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship for residents and students at the nearby Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School.

James “Monte” Montague, a Raleigh native and President of F7 Development International, is the driving force behind Montague Plaza. His goal is to create a space that not only supports local businesses but also inspires the next generation to pursue STEM-based careers and build a better future for themselves and their community.

F&M Bank Chairman and CEO, Steve Fisher, expressed his excitement about partnering with Montague on this project and the positive impact it will have on the community. The bank’s involvement reflects its commitment to supporting local success and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Montague Plaza is not just a development project; it is a symbol of hope and opportunity for the community. With F&M Bank’s support, this initiative is set to make a lasting impact and create a brighter future for all involved.
