CXC® Renews Partnership with Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC®) has taken a significant step towards enhancing the certification and preparation of students for successful careers in Finance and Accounting by renewing its partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 27 June 2024 at CXC® headquarters in Barbados, marking the seventh year of collaboration between the two organizations. The MoU aims to promote knowledge sharing to strengthen the quality of curriculum development, delivery, and assessment of Accountancy and Taxation courses across the region’s Education and Training system.

Dr. Wayne Wesley, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CXC®, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We believe that by working together, we can leverage the collective expertise of both our organizations to benefit our students and enhance professional excellence across the Caribbean.”

The renewal of the partnership has been praised as a progressive step towards fostering a robust financial ecosystem in the Caribbean, highlighting the crucial role of accountancy and taxation in regional development.

Paula Marcelle-Irish, Head of ACCA Caribbean, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership will greatly benefit students throughout the Caribbean by equipping them with the necessary skills and competencies to become leading accountancy and finance professionals in the future, driving economic integration and development in our region.”

The CXC®-ACCA MoU outlines key objectives, including enhanced professional training, knowledge sharing, teacher training initiatives, curriculum development, and ongoing technical exchange. The partnership aims to raise awareness about the importance of sound financial management and tax compliance training while preparing regional students for successful careers in finance and taxation.

Overall, the renewal of the partnership between CXC® and ACCA signifies a commitment to excellence in education and professional development in the Caribbean, paving the way for a brighter future for students pursuing careers in Finance and Accounting.
