NC State University Tops Global Rankings in Education and Educational Research
NC State University has once again solidified its position as a leader in the field of education and educational research, ranking No. 60 in the world in the latest U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities Subject Rankings. This prestigious ranking also places NC State as the top globally ranked university for this field of study in North Carolina, and No. 21 among universities in the United States.
Dean Paola Sztajn of the College of Education at NC State expressed her excitement at the recognition, highlighting the incredible work of faculty, staff, and students in connecting research to practice and preparing exceptional educators. The College’s innovative, inclusive, and interdisciplinary approaches to education have garnered widespread acclaim, solidifying its reputation as one of the nation’s leading public colleges of education.
The rankings, released on June 24, 2024, assess reputation and academic research performance, taking into account factors such as publications, citations, and international collaborations. NC State faculty have been prolific in their research output, with over 500 articles related to education published in peer-reviewed journals between 2018-2022.
In addition to their research contributions, faculty in the College of Education have been actively engaged in scholarly activities, including editorships of peer-reviewed journals, publication of journal articles and books, and presentations at research conferences. Their work has been recognized and quoted in various media outlets, further enhancing the College’s reputation in the field.
This is the second time that the education and educational research category has been included in the U.S. News’ Best Global Universities rankings, which evaluated nearly 22,000 universities worldwide in 51 subjects for the 2024-2025 edition. In the previous edition, NC State ranked No. 68 in the world and No. 1 in North Carolina, showcasing its consistent excellence in the field.
