The Chatham County Police Department shared footage of the incident on their Facebook page, showcasing the officers’ brave efforts to capture and release the reptile back into the wild.

In the video, officers can be seen tapping the gator’s mouth and restraining it before carefully placing it in the back of the patrol car. The residents of the neighborhood were entertained by the unexpected turn of events, with many leaving humorous comments on the post.

Despite the lighthearted reactions, the police department emphasized that encounters with alligators are not uncommon in the area. They commended the officers for their quick and calm response in handling the situation, ensuring the safety of both the residents and the gator.

The gator was eventually released into the Ogeechee River, where it belongs, marking a successful and unique “arrest” for the Chatham County Police Department.
