8-Year-Old Girl Recovering After Motorcycle Crash in Commerce City
An 8-year-old girl is recovering after a terrifying motorcycle crash in Commerce City, Colorado. The incident occurred when Bella and her father, Enrique Martinez, were out for a leisurely ride to meet family members. As they were cruising down East 56th Avenue, a car suddenly pulled out in front of them, causing Martinez to lose control of the motorcycle.
In the chaos of the crash, Martinez quickly checked on his daughter and was relieved to find that she was conscious and able to stand. However, Bella had suffered extensive injuries, including severe scrapes and burns. Despite the severity of her wounds, the driver of the car that caused the crash callously drove away without stopping to help.
Thankfully, Martinez’s father was nearby and rushed Bella to Children’s Hospital Colorado, where she was immediately taken to the burn center for treatment. While Bella was eventually discharged a few days later, she will require ongoing care and dressing changes for her injuries.
Bella’s mother, Bernadette Luevano, expressed gratitude that Bella was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which likely prevented even more serious injuries. The family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover the mounting medical expenses, as Luevano had to put her business on hold to care for her daughter.
As Bella continues to heal, her parents are hopeful that she will not require skin grafts, but they are prepared for whatever the next steps may be. Despite the traumatic experience, they are grateful to still have their daughter with them and are taking things one day at a time.
